10 New Sports Branches at the 2018 Asian Games







The Asian Olympic Committee (OCA) has officially announced that there will be 40 sports to be held at the 2018 Asian Games . In addition, there will be 10 new sports. With a variety of considerations, Indonesia finally agreed to this. In the beginning, Indonesia only proposed 39 sports, given the effectiveness of the budget provided by the Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC), especially in the construction of the venue. A t last 40 sport was agreed to be held. Here are 10 new sports in the 2018 Asian Games event.


 1.  Rollersport  Rollersport is a branch consisting of skateboarding and rollerskate . This sport is also classified as fresh because of the interest of the average youngster. The reason for this sport was approved because of the efforts of the International Olympic Committee (OCA) to support young people who are interested in the sport.  Rollersport also plans to be competed in the 2018 Youth Olympic in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

2.  Bridge This sport relies on intelligence and brain ingenuity like chess. The difference is, the media used is playing cards. Initially bridge was rejected as a new sport. On October 11, 2016, PB GABSI persuaded OCA to make bridge one of the official Asian Games sports this time, and the effort was finally approved. Bridge will be competed in six numbers, men team, women team, mixed team, super mixed team, men pair and mixed pair. Indonesia targets two gold medals in this sport. The bridge Indonesia National Team prepared for the 2018 Asian Games successfully won all the top rankings in the Music City Summer Sectional Tournament which took place in Nashville City, Tennessee, United States 6-8 July.


3.  3x3 basketball Unlike basketball in general which uses 5 people in a team, this time the 3x3 basketball branch uses 3 players, the field used is only half of basketball in general. The time of match 3 on 3 was only divided into three rounds. The first round is a preliminary round that lasts 10 minutes. The second half of the semi-finals which lasts for 10 minutes and the last round or final is determined when the ball is dead or when doing a free throw.


 4.  Jet Ski The jetski match will be held on August 23-26 2018 at Ancol Beach, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, Jakarta. The Chairperson of the Indonesian Jetsport and Boating Association (IJBA) Chair Saiful Sutan Aswar said the preparation of the venue for the sport was already 95 percent. The numbers competed in jetski sports include  modified skiing, runabout 1100 stock, limited runabout,  and  endurance runabout open  with a total of 12 pieces medals. Visitors play jet skiing at Pantai Beach Club, Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang, Banten, Sunday (09/24/2017). All the beauty of Tanjung Lesung made the government set the area into a Special Economic Zone (KEK) of Tourism in Banten Province.



5.  Pencak Silat At the previous Asian Games, pencak silat had never entered the four-year event. But this year Indonesia as the host has the right to add three sports. One of the choices is pencak silat. The most popular martial arts in Indonesia will finally be held at the 2018 Asian Games. Pencak silat became one of the mainstays for Indonesia to win the gold medal.


 6.  Jiu Jitsu Jiu-jitsu is a martial art that focuses on floor battles and also has several techniques such as wrestling, hard attacks, locking joints and slamming. Indonesia sent 11 athletes with a composition of nine male athletes and two female athletes to compete in five numbers in this sport. The inauguration of Ju-jitsu is one of the sports branches of  the 2018 Asian Games,  clearly a long-held desire for the sports practitioners and lovers. Now, Ju-jitsu already has an official sports parent, namely the Executive Board of the Jiu Jitsu Indonesia (PB-JI). Locking exercises in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. (filmmaker)



 7.  Sambo Sambo is a Russian martial art that was introduced by Viktor Spiridonov and Vasili Oshcepkob. This self-defense relies on submission techniques   such as catch wrestling, judo, jujutsu, kurash, and alysh. The word Sambo is sometimes written in capital letters "SAMBO" and is an acronym for SAMooborona Bez Oruzhiya , meaning "martial without weapons". Sambo was basically adapted from traditional Armenian wrestling, Georgia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and Azerbaijan.


8.  Kurash Kurash is claimed to be the oldest martial art. Kurash has the same movement pattern with judo and wrestling. This martial arts sport has a basic movement slamming each other by linking special clothes. The rules in kurash forbid any action on the floor, the movement allowed is in a standing position. Kurash sports originated in the Tatarstan region of Central Asia or now known as the Uzbekistan region. Indonesia sent eight athletes to this sport.



9.  Paragliding Sports fly freely using cloth wings (parachutes) that take off with feet for recreational or competition purposes. With a parachute, courage becomes one of the main factors in this sport, the athlete who jumps at a predetermined target, he will win. The official parallels are included in the 18th Asian Games through the OCA General Session held in Danang, Vietnam, September 25, 2016. Rika Wijayanti is a targeted Indonesian flagship athlete who gets a gold medal in individual landing numbers. The National Climbing Team poses with the Menpora Imam Nahrawi, who on the sidelines of his work visit to Russia, also witnessed and provided support to Indonesian athletes who took part in the 2018 IFSC World Cup in Moscow.



10.  Rock Climbing This sport is synonymous with nature and also steep and dangerous cliffs. The athlete will be matched with the speed to find the highest peak that has been determined. Rock Climbing will be held at the Sport Climbing Arena, Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang on 23-27 August 2018. The Sports Branch will compete with six numbers of boys and girls in the categories of  speed, combined,  and  speed relay.
